B.W CAVILL / B.W. GARRETT

CAVILL B.W / GARRETT B.W.

The identity of this passenger who was rescued is a mystery. The official Censor issued lists of survivors to the newspapers on the 11th and 12th of October, but as published, they contain variations. Some of the papers list B.W Cavill ? Whitecroft, Kent. Some list B.W. Garrett, Whitecroft, Kent and the Liverpool Echo has Dr W Garrett, Whitecroft, Kent. The question mark after Cavill, appearing in some of the papers, suggests a degree of uncertainty on the part of the Censor or the newspapers.

It is also possible that the address Whitecroft, Kent may not be correct. Another survivor on the lists, Arthur Wilfred Lewis, had the address Whitecroft Way, Beckenham attached to his name and it is possible that it was repeated inadvertently.

Nobody of the name B.W. Cavill has been identified, nor has Dr Garrett. A Benjamin William Garrett has been identified, but not at that address in 1918.
