People on boardEVANS, Charles Charles Evans was born in Dublin on 25th September 1872 to Henry and Maria (née Tyner) Evans. His father was a clerk in the Bank of Ireland and Charles was the youngest of their four sons. The family was Church of Ireland. Charles was married to Isabella Wright Beamish on 11th November 1903 at the church of St. John in Monkstown, Co. Dublin, just a few months after the death of his father. Isabella’s father was a Colonel in the Northumberland Fusiliers. Charles was working for Guinness, in St. James’s Brewery and lived in Howth. Isabella gave an address in Kensington, London. Charles, his wife, Ella, and their son, also Charles, aged 13, were travelling to London aboard the RMS Leinster where Charles was transferring to work in the Guinness branch there. All three were lost in the sinking. He is commemorated with his family on a Beamish grave in Deansgrange Cemetery, Dublin and was survived by his brothers and their families. Text: Claire Bradley
