Louisa Toppin

TOPPIN, Louisa (née Falkner)

Louisa Toppin was born Louisa Mary Falkner in July 1873 at Rathdown House in Delgany, Co. Wicklow. Her parents were Francis Falkner, Wine Merchant and Louisa Falkner. The family owned a Wine & Spirits business in Gratfton St., Dublin. The family later moved to Sandycove where they lived at St. Kilda, Sandycove Ave. East. Francis Falkner died in July 1886. In April 1904, in St. Paul’s Church, Glenageary, Co. Dublin, Louisa Mary Falkner married Greville E. T. Toppin, an Agency Inspector from London, born in Twickenham. Greville and Louisa moved to Streatham where a daughter, Dorothy Hope Toppin was born in 1905.

Both mother and daughter survived the sinking of the RMS Leinster. Dorothy H. Toppin married John S. Ward in Epsom in 1931. Her mother died in Devon in 1968 at the age of 95. Dorothy H. Ward (née Toppin) died in Devon in 1982.
